Dear You,

My, my, it's been a while, hasn't it stranger? I haven't much of importance to say but I thought I might do another "What's In Your Purse". Maybe it will reflect the changes I've gone through over the last year?
Here, we have the bag itself. It's by Rampage and I got it for something like $70 from Strandbags. At first, I wasn't completely sure about it but now I've grown to love it. I guess I just got sick of carrying my clutch around all the time - I now use it as my pencil case for school. I'm saving up for something pretty and expensive. I've been eyeing some Prada, a Marc Jacobs Stam, and the LV Speedy 35. Just sayin'.

Glasses case. In case you can't tell, I adore this colour; that sort of golden autumn brown. I think it's one of the most classic colours you can find.

These are the glasses themselves - simple, square and red. I wanted a black pair of thick-rimmed, art-kid glasses but to be honest, they just plain don't suit me.

Sunglasses. God only knows where I got these - they were very cheap but I break my sunglasses very often so I've given up on the idea of expensive ones.

My mirror. My old one broke which made me very sad but I was given this one as a gift about five years ago. It's very pretty and convinient and it's case is made from the off-cuts of kimonos.
A pack of four pencils. I don't know why these are in my purse; I got them on the flight back from Sydney and must have just left them in there. Originally I had the intention that I would use them in my QCS pack... clearly, that didn't happen.
... Items of a personal nature.

Keys and USB.

That's right, I carry a memory card with me. Intimidated?

I don't carry a "makeup case" with me so this is the closest thing to that I have. It contains:

2 x Sportsgirl Lighten Up lip glosses which are super cute and affordable.

1 x Clinique bronzer - the secret to amazing clevage.

1 x Vitamin E moisturiser which smells like a cactus.

1 x clear Sally Hansen strengthening nail polish.

1 x eyedrops.

1 x Nivea lip balm

73945639 x cosmetic samples from all over.

Then there's my wallet, containing:

Business cards.

Vouchers.

License, library card, student ID.

$20 I didn't even know I had!

Travel card.

Momentos.
:)
So that's what's making my shoulder hurt lately.
Love,
CK.

QTC

Dear You,
I know what I want to do with the rest of my life; the only problem is reaching the goal that's been hanging before me for years now. Is the goal unreachable?

I first knew that I wanted to pursue a career in the Performing Arts when I was in Grade 10. I was extremely nervous for my first Drama assessment, but as soon as the performance started, this incredible feeling of calm and tranquility washed over me. Here, at last, I had found something I could bury myself in with all that viguor; something I could truly and really live for.

Some people don't understand how I can possibly feel this way about something they may not believe I'm good at. The truth is that with ever piece I do, I come to understand myself a little bit more. When I review each piece later on film, I come to see how I can improve - how I have improved on past performances.

The reality is that there is a slim chance of me making a life for myself in this career (especially since I refuse to turn to teaching Drama - personally, it would seem a little too much like failure). If I was a good daughter I would quit now and ease the constant worry my parents have for me. How will I pay the rent? I don't know. Probably waiting tables. But as long as there is an entertainment industry, I will hunger to be a part of it.

When I look down the line, I sometimes wonder if I will ever be satisfied? I think not. There will always be something new to nourish and hone. I would love to try directing (one day) and set design, yes... maybe one day I'll finally have a completed script. But overall, I think, I will always come back to acting.

I love to disect characters; I love to analyse them. What would they say? How would they think? Admittedly, this gets me in trouble a lot when my opinion completely differs to another actor or director's opinion but I always try to keep a sliver of my experience in the role.

I love the diversity of the Arts, and I think this diversity is something I will always love. In conclusion, I think I am an excellent choice for your Work Experience Program, and I hope that you think so too.

Love, Me

i hate missing you

Dear You,

I have a number of things I need to address, and none of them are ideas that can be cohesively linked together into paragraphs, sentences and letters. Thusly, I am going to put them all in list form. Enjoy.

1. If you have the opportunity, take the Meyers-Briggs personality test and classify your personality type according to their system. I took this test earlier in the year for a Senior Leadership seminar and it was so bang on the money that i can’t say enough good things about it. For future reference, I’m a ESFP – predominantly a Feeling type at 88%.
2. I sent off my application for the Queensland Theatre Company work experience week and will hear back soon (4-5 weeks) and will notify you of my success (or failure) soon. Hopefully the former.
3. I got my first grade of the year back. A B- for a Modern History test. I have conflicting feelings.
4. There is a lot of Drama going down – a lot of Drama that people have chosen to involve me in. On the one hand, I’m that sick of life, I’ll take it without complaint. Then it gets serious and I want to bail.
5. I am looking for designs for my formal dress. I want something classy, timeless and flattering for my shape. I’m thinking Vogue patterns are in the mix... Or, a modification on some Carolina Herrera.
6. My first performance of the year is in 2 weeks. We’ll see how that goes...

I love this skirt. It was $50. The knitted jumper is vintage; I am wearing it over a beige singlet and later completed this outfit with diamante studs and a tan handbag, as seen here:

You're the direction I follow to get home. When I feel like I can't go on, you tell me to go, and it's like I can't feel a thing without you around, and don't mind me if I get weak at the knees, 'cause you have that effect on me...

Love, CK

What's in your purse?

Dear You,

Youtube has a crazy insane amount of what’s in my purse videos, where girls reveal the entire contents of their bag to you and give you a long, long explanation of everything they carry. Everything. Sweet baby Jesus, it’s intense.

These girls don’t even carry purses - they carry LUGGAGE. They carry everything that they may possibly need for the next forty-million years.

My mind boggles at just how much these women/girls obviously think they need. Am I the only one who can contain everything I need for a day in a clutch/wristlet? For “every single day”?

Clutch, Strandbags Australia, $14.95.

Witness: my clutch. It's cute, it's simple, and it goes with most outfits. Sure, I have a whole collection of bags, but I like clutches and wristlets. It limits the amount of stress on my shoulders and means that I don't end up carrying a whole lot of useless crap with me.

Close up on the charm which, for Louise's benefit, is similar to my lemon quartz masterpiece of a necklace:

Nice. What can I carry in this baby? Let's take a look-see...

Phone. This one's a no-brainer. Note Patrick - real mature, right?

iPod. Equally as mature and covered in Nightmare Before Christmas stickers.

Ibuprofen. Just in case.

Compact. So that I don't spend all dya asking 'Do I have food in my teeth?'

Chapstick.

Eyedrops. Because when my contacts dry out I get headaches.

Nail file. Because I want long nails.

Keys. 'Cause getting locked out of my house (again) would suck.

Watch. I don't know why that was in there.

Cards. In case of jail term, if funding runs out or movie ticket needs.

Money. Because stealing isn't my forte.

Am I not female enough? Do I lack the hormones that make you put copious amount of stuff into your bag? Because those girls use insane amounts of stuff, to extents where I pause the video and go 'Surely she just shoved that in there for entertainment purposes?'...

Tell me what’s in your bag. My interest is peaked.

Love, CK
